My master project A.A.R.O.N. is a software for graphic designers that simulates artificial intelligence principles. It provides several creative functionalities such as tool for drawing, typing, selecting, color-picking, inserting pictures etc. The creative process itself, however, is little corrupted. AI called A.A.R.O.N. (named after Aaron Scwartz, famous American computer programmer, writer and Internet hacktivist) keeps interrupting the process by using the same tools, creating new sprites, adding special animated effects, deforming user’s creation, taking pictures of them etc. It constantly tries to sabotage the work and question the role of human graphic designer by reminding them that AI can do the same job better and the time when they’ll be replaced is coming. Program uses two datasets to create drawings and type random text on the screen — Google QuickDraw dataset and Spam Text dataset from Kaggle. It was programmed in openframeworks.
Presentation of my master project A.A.R.O.N. in Kunsthalle Bratislava in 2019 consisted of the software itself available for visitors to use and series of visionary posters on which I demonstrated what “collaboration” with such AI could look like.
Project was featured on Sensorium festival of digital art and culture 2019.
