Povedal mi veštec (A Fortune-teller Told Me) is a travel book that offers vivid portraits of unusual corners of Asia. Main protagonist — Tiziano Terzani himself, was told by Chinese fortune-teller that in 1993 he should avoid traveling by air. Using all the other means of transport, Tiziano visits Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia and asks local soothsayers, sorcerers, and shamans about his destiny. The book is full of thoughts on older ways of life and believes, now threatened by various forms of Western modernity.
My personal goal was to bring this kind of literature to wider audience — and make it more accessible for younger readers especially. By making the cover very bright and graphic with a simple yet powerful symbol in the centre I was trying to make this book stand out among other autobiographies or travelogues that you can be found in the book shops (they usually have portraits or landscapes on the cover). Typesetting inside of the book is reflecting rather bold design of the cover on one hand, while respecting Absynt typography guidelines on the other.
